Who are we this time?
Roberta Fallon, Philadelphia Weekly, Sept. 25, 2002.

Joshua Mosley's computer-animated mini-opera, Beyrouth , a nine-minute charmer in Arabic with English subtitles, is a standout in the otherwise staid seven-artist exhibit "Dual Identities: Seven Philadelphia Artists/Academics." From its haunting minor-key melodies and evocative instrumentation to the oddly satisfying jumble of imagery(a SEPTA accordion bus swimming, breeching and blowing like a sperm whale in an Arabic alphabet soup), this video projection gets your attention. Beyrouth asks questions about philosophy, love and the human experience that art should ask. And it leaves the answers open, allowing the viewer to think and ponder on her own.

Richard Hrlcko's monoprints on silk also allude to life's questions. The elegant abstract works, all untitled, weave together textures that evoke everything from elephant hide to tree bark. Small and somehow light-dappled, they are humble evocations of the complex natural world and they mirror it back with beauty.
