Joshua Mosley, Donald Young Gallery, 933 W. Washington, (312) 455-0100; through April 19.
Mosley's low-tech science-fiction animation is all of five minutes long but it still manages to take the viewer on a weird journey to the center of the Earth. Made the old-fashioned way, with the artist/hero represented in claymation with black-and-white background drawings and captions instead of sound, the film presents a double view of mind-expanding experience. Looking for equilibrium, the hero wanders into a world without gravity, all the while being interrupted by a cell phone conversation. The piece explores the two streams of experience in modern life, as the trivial constantly vies for our attentions as we contemplate the infinite.
